New York rapper Chinx has been shot and killed in Queens in the small hours of this morning. According to reports a vehicle pulled up alongside Chinx’s and was then fired upon, another unnamed person is in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital. Our well wishes go out to his family, French Montana and the whole of the Coke Boys crew.

October 28, 2012It has been confirmed that Natina Reed formerly of girl group Blaque has passed away due to being hit by a car Friday night in Atlanta just a day before her 33rd birthday, she is survived by her 10-year-old son with rapper Kurupt.
Blaque were first signed by Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez to her production company Left Eye Productions and saw huge success with their self titled debut album which shifted over 1.5 million copies and featured hit singles “808” & “Bring It All To Me”, fellow members Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-DeVoe have released the following statement:
“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
R.I.P Chris Lighty
August 30, 2012Hip hop suffered another loss today as the New York Daily News reported that hip hop mogul Chris Lighty had passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound at age 44.
Chris Lighty set up his own management company in 1989 called Violator Management and was instrumental to the careers of many including Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule and more.
Aside from his management success in the rap game he was also responsible for the largest brand endorsement deal in hip hop to date when he brokered the deal for 50 Cent and vitamin water which saw 50 walk away with a cool $100 million. A few hours ago 50 Cent released a statement paying tribute to his long time manager:
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend and business partner Chris Lighty. Chris has been an important part of my business and personal growth for a decade. He was a good friend and adviser who helped me develop as an artist and businessman. My prayers are with his family. He will be greatly missed.”
