Kanye West Debuts New Tracks @ Governors Ball

June 10, 2013

Kanye brought the Governors Ball to an end last night and premiered some new tracks from his forthcoming album ‘Yeezus’. Along with the new tracks ‘I Am A God’, ‘Onsite’ and one untitled joint he also performed ‘New Slaves’, ‘Black Skinhead’ and his vast back catalogue of hits.

Judging from the new joints so far I really think ‘Yeezus’ will divide fans just like his album ‘808s & Heartbreak’ did which I actually thought was a good body of work, so it will be interesting to see what he delivers when June 18th rolls by. You can peep some of the footage from the Governors Ball after the jump!

Kanye West Debuts ‘New Slaves’ Video Across The World

May 18, 2013

Kanye West literally took it to the streets last night to promote his latest video ‘New Slaves’ by projecting it on various public buildings across the world. The list of locations can be found on Yeezy’s website.

The track itself I’m guessing is produced by Hudson Mohawke who premiered the track during one of his live dj sets a few weeks ago and sees Kanye go in with his rant like raps.

Yeezy takes aim at the big corporations and spits You see it’s leaders and there’s followers / But I’d rather be a dick than a swallower, the track depicts that society has placed such a high regard to materialistic things that they have engulfed themselves as modern day slaves.

I’m feeling the production and the track and the way it was premiered was genius but the subject matter just goes around in circles as he admits he’s a modern day slave but continues to contribute to it by working for the same corporations he complains of.

I guess Kanye summed this up on his track ‘Clique’ when he spat ‘I rather buy 80 gold chains and go ign’ant / I know Spike Lee gone kill me but let me finish / Blame it on the pigment, we living no limits’. Either way the track will have people talking, you can check out the video after the jump which includes the screenings in Brooklyn, Chicago & Toronto.

London’s premiere according to West’s website will take place tonight at the Tate Modern amongst other locations.
